Here at Scooter Media, sometimes we like our team-building shaken, not stirred. That was certainly the case with our 6th Annual Cocktail Competition, which we recently hosted with our friends from Spotted Yeti Media for an afternoon full of camaraderie, creativity, and (of course) incredible cocktails.
This year’s competition, which had a Chopped theme, was the first time the event has been held since the COVID-19 pandemic. Helping us celebrate the return of this fun competition were our guest judges:
- Ashleigh DuBois, Director of DEI for the Northern Kentucky Chamber of Commerce
- David Dalton, Principal of The Think Shop and Red Hot Promotions, Inc.
- Quinn McMurtry, Chief Executive Officer at MAC Productions
This long-awaited event is a favorite for the Scooter Media team because we get to spend time with our friends at Spotted Yeti Media (aka “The Yetis”), who have been our neighbors several times throughout the history of Scooter Media. (Although we’re still a little bitter at the results of this year’s Hub + Weber Badminton Brawl …)
Here’s how the competition works: team members from both agencies are paired up in groups and tasked with making a special concoction for everyone to taste.
The judges crown winners in categories such as: “Best Cocktail,” “Runner-Up,” and “Most Creative,” while the crowd also votes on a “Fan Favorite.”
And the Winner Is …
The competition was hot this year — and not just because of the weather! Three of the five competing cocktails included a spicy salt rim, along with ingredients from each team’s mystery basket featuring unique items such as cucumbers, olives, bananas, chocolate syrup, grape Kool-Aid and jalapeño salt.
This year, Scooter Media’s Lindsey Vanderkolk and Erin Hertzenberg took home the “Best Cocktail” and “Fan Favorite” awards for their Spicy Sunset cocktail.
A combined ScooterYeti team featuring Scooter Media’s Brian Mains and Amber Potter alongside Spotted Yeti’s Andy Gasper won runner-up and “Most Creative” for their Too Hot to Handle concoction.
We had a fantastic time mixing it up at this year’s Cocktail Competition, and we’re already looking forward to next year!
